About Shylo
Shylo is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Post- Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Shylo has spent many years working on the front lines in community settings, supporting individuals living with mental health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities, and substance use/recovery. Through her professional and personal experience, Shylo has come to recognize the vital importance of social and community support in one’s wellness journey. She believes that healing and growth are not meant to be faced alone, but are nurtured through connection, compassion, and shared understanding. In her work as a psychotherapist, she integrates this philosophy by encouraging clients to strengthen their support networks, engage in community and cultivate meaningful relationships as part of their path towards resilience and well-being.
Shylo works with youth, adults, couples, and families from all walks of life who may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or other mental health concerns. She brings a unique ability to hold space with empathy while applying evidence-based interventions in a non-judgmental way. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, and tailored, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Brainspotting, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples work. By integrating these approaches, Shylo supports clients in building, coping strategies, processing trauma, improving communication, and fostering overall wellness and recovery.
