About Carly
Carly is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the college of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She has worked with children, adolescents, and families in Simcoe County, Ontario, for over twelve years and obtained an undergraduate education surrounding child psychology. Carly then eagerly pursued a counselling career path right after her undergrad degree where she graduated from the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University with distinction. Throughout Carly’s various careers, Carly speaks about how ‘it is okay to not be okay.’ Carly’s counselling journey brought her to be an advocate in many lives, as she listens to every session in depth to bring an understanding to various life stories and support the diverse needs of members of the community with tools/resources that are uniquely tailored to foster your growth, bravery, interpersonal goals, and healing.
In support of Carly’s education, she continues to participate in ongoing learning while maintaining equality and inclusivity that support the healing processes from infancy through to adulthood. In Carly’s own lived experiences, she endured many medical treatments as a Sick Kids Hospital patient and knows the feeling of being misunderstood or judged, where Carly now states “we learn through experience, but also through guidance.” Therefore, Carly believes it is important to approach therapy authentically, be mindful, actively listen, maintain transparency, and support unconditional positive regard which means, your story, thoughts and emotions are valid and key to fostering resiliency. From the moment you start your session with Carly, she puts emphasis on a client-centred approach that genuinely acknowledges and respects that you’re the expert of your lived experiences.
With Carly’s ongoing expanding knowledge where she attends trainings, participates in readings and ongoing learnings, she incorporates theoretical orientations such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), SFBT (Solution Focused Based Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and more when applicable! If it is important for you to feel like you can trust and receive the best possible support when expressing trauma or emotions, Carly works to gain an understanding from a nurturing perspective. Starting therapy takes courage, and with that, your courage will bring you towards a therapy journey full of advocacy, positive reinforcement and hope while attending therapy with Carly. Life can have its challenges, but it is destined to uncover your purpose.
